Project Manager (Design Engineering)

Job Responsibilities

As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for representing the Firm in all interactions with clients, contractors, architects, and other project team members. Your main focus will be to meet client goals by integrating your expertise with the project team. 

Additional PM responsibilities:

  • Responsible for managing the function of projects. Take ownership of the client’s and the firm’s project goals in terms of project contract management, including financials, understanding and managing client expectations, tight project schedule control, billing and collections, and ensuring optimal project information flow (internally and externally) 
  • Work closely with trade-specific project engineers to ensure projects are delivered in a coordinated product. 
  • Assume responsible charge for the overall economic well-being of the assigned projects
  • Develop and mentor staff as it relates to technical and client management development.
  • Prepare proposals and administer project contracts between SHG and the client, including Add Service Agreements
  • Conduct business development activities, participate in various trade organizations  and prepare presentations
  • Establish project budgets and schedules
  • Perform staff resource management and review

For detailed design and production, you will have the support of our expert engineering staff for your projects. The project management role requires a basic understanding of all our design and consulting services and the ability to understand the technical aspects of other trades at a high level.

Your project assignments may include the following services:

  • The design of large projects, the preparation of reports and specifications, calculations, equipment selection and specification, system design, system layout, field investigation, and construction administration
  • Providing consulting services, including preparation of due diligence reports, gap analyses, and feasibility reports
  • Assuring drawings produced are consistent with client requirements and standards
  • Production of due diligence reports that comply with group and company standards and procedures
  • Establishing design standards, specifications, and criteria for projects

Job Requirements

Successful candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of experience as a Project Manager with a stable track record.  A background in design of electrical or mechanical systems in any of these markets: Healthcare, Civic, Higher Education, Aviation, Hospitality, Corporate Interiors,  and Mission Critical.

Additional requirements of the Project Manager include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field; exceptional candidates may substitute significant years of experience
  • Candidate should possess a strong ability to coordinate between MEP, Architectural, Structural, Civil and Low Voltage trades
  • The latest version of AutoCAD and REVIT experience
  • PMP Certification a plus
