The location for this role may also be in Irvine, CA. You will demonstrate your commissioning skills and by leveraging the firm’s technology-centric competitive edge you will work with design engineers, vendors, contractors, and client personnel to design, test, make operational, optimize and validate mechanical systems in multiple 24x7 mission-critical plants, pharmaceutical, healthcare, power generation or similar environments. You will lead our Los Angeles Office as the Senior Commissioning Manager for personnel and projects.

Senior Commissioning Engineer/PM (Mechanical)

Job Responsibilities

As a Senior Commissioning Engineer/PM, you could travel to sites throughout the US and will work directly with client personnel at state-of-the-art mission-critical facilities. This position will involve reviewing design criteria, specifications, drawings, equipment submittals, and other documentation pertinent to commissioning. In this role, you will develop all commissioning documentation and administer functional performance testing of mechanical systems, and their associated DDC/PLC control systems and sequences.

Project Management responsibilities include:

  • Assuming responsible charge for the overall economic well-being of the assigned projects including oversight/management of other involved disciplines as part of the projects
  • Establishing project budgets and schedules and delivering projects on schedule and within budget with manpower requirements
  • Communicating with clients and Project Team in an engaging manner, maintaining client satisfaction, and project efficiency
  • Participating in QA/QC process of completed work by staff
  • Communicating regularly with Client Leaders and Project Managers of other services who may be managing other projects for your same clients

Additional responsibilities:

  • Perform System and equipment troubleshooting
  • Develop and coordinate Commissioning Plans, Pre-Functional Checklists, Functional Performance Tests, Integrated Systems Tests, MOPS, SOPs, EOPs, PMPs, and Systems Manuals for complex Mechanical Systems, consistent with firm standards
  • Direct and document functional and integrated systems testing of large scale airside and waterside systems. Review design criteria, specifications, drawings, equipment submittals, and other documentation pertinent to commissioning
  • Perform construction administration and field investigation tasks for assigned projects including conducting field inspections and subsequent detailed inspection reports
  • Successfully complete CA Title 24 or other state jurisdiction commissioning requirements, processes, and documentation
  • Develop/Cross-train other lower-level engineers to perform commissioning support duties. Management of these individuals as part of the internal project team
  • Assist in proposal development for business development as needed for the scope of work, costs, and team member projection

Senior Commissioning Engineer/PM (Mechanical)

Job Requirements

To succeed in this role, your experience would include commissioning or designing of large Mechanical systems for industrial, data center, pharmaceutical processes or laboratory clean rooms. Your technical strengths must be complemented by self-motivation, relationship building skills, effective communication skills, conflict resolution, and the ability to effectively work in a fast-paced environment.

Senior Commissioning Engineer/PM requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred (exceptional candidates may substitute significant years of experience, including the commissioning of large mechanical systems for industrial, data center, pharmaceutical processes, or laboratory clean rooms)
  • A minimum of 7 years field experience in hand-on testing, validating and troubleshooting of large-scale waterside systems
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience with Project Management
  • The ability to work unsupervised to meet project demands

Highly preferred but not required:

  • Basic knowledge of the electrical discipline
  • Prior experience with LEED commissioning, Retro-Cx and Facilities Management
  • Project Management Certification (PMP)
