Senior Sustainable Building Performance Analyst

Job Responsibilities

As a Senior Sustainability Analyst, you will be responsible for supporting the national High-Performance Solutions Team, the local MEP engineering team, and other market focus teams on various sustainable, high-performance design consulting and analysis projects. Also responsible for leading and developing new sustainable, high-performance design and analysis projects.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Majority of the focus will be to provide building performance/energy modeling and consulting scope and fee proposals for project pursuits with group leaders as part of comprehensive high-performance MEP engineering proposals
  • The position requires working with our owner and architect clients, our MEP design engineers, and other High-Performance team members in developing and analyzing energy, water, and carbon efficiency strategies and system approaches on their projects – related to high-performance HVAC systems, plumbing systems, and electrical/lighting systems
  • Provide guidance and assistance to projects seeking LEED or other environmental certifications (WELL, Fitwell, Living Building Challenge, etc.) to the engineers working on those projects
  • Take more comprehensive leadership of the LEED (or other environmental certification programs) documentation for energy models being submitted for those projects
  • Provide project management of the building performance analysis and consulting aspects of the high-performance projects for which you have been assigned
  • Assume one-on-one training/mentoring of sustainable building performance
  • Conduct workshop or seminar-type training to local office engineering staff on various high-performance topics
  • Work with local and regional group leaders to develop work of high-performance focus
  • Present to existing and potential clients on high-performance topics to develop and maintain relationships
  • Present at local/regional/national conferences and events on high-performance topics to further enhance the Syska brand in high-performance design

Job Requirements

This role requires a highly skilled Specialist with in-depth knowledge of LEED Principles, including all applicable building codes and industry standards. In addition to strong engineering skills, you will need a high degree of interpersonal and relationship building skills to be successful in this position.

Senior Sustainability Specialist Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Architecture (Build Science-related), or related field
  • 5 to 7 years of experience working in a consulting engineering firm
  • LEED accredited (with specialty required), WELL AP, PE or AIA preferred
  • Demonstrated level of expertise in various building performance modeling (energy, daylight, solar shading, airflow, etc.)
  • Understanding the use of simulation and modeling tools in support of the High-Performance Solutions Team (such as eQUEST, IES Virtual Environment, Energy+, etc.)
  • Demonstrates experience with solar shading and daylight simulation tools such as Radiance or AGI32
  • Working knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Lighting systems to ensure proper design coordination
  • Some experience with AutoCAD, Revit, and Sketch-Up
