Job Responsibilities

As a Vertical Transportation Consultant, you will collaborate with our national Vertical Transportation team and manage the design and consulting of vertical transportation systems for a variety of projects for our  West Coast offices (Los Angeles and, San  Diego . You will represent the Firm in all interactions with clients, contractors, architects, and other project team members. You will be responsible for supervising, coordinating, and assigning various projects to be performed by the team (i.e., system design and project engineering).

VT Consultant Additional Responsibilities:

  • Work in close contact with the entire design team to maintain interdisciplinary coordination with other trades/projects consultants
  • Monitor all correspondence between staff, clients, contractors, owners, etc.
  • Prepare proposals and administering project contracts between SHG and the client, including add service agreements
  • Assume responsible charge for the overall economic well-being of the assigned projects
  • Participate in interactive Quality Assurance/Quality Control processes throughout the assigned projects.
  • Prepare vertical transportation analysis and perform system design calculations
  • Select equipment for use in Vertical Transportation systems and write reports
  • Market capabilities both to internal and external clients
  • Participate in the hiring and training of technical staff.

Job Requirements

This dynamic and highly visible role requires knowledge of vertical transportation systems to include elevators, escalators, moving walks and other materials movement systems. The ideal candidate will have working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and supervisory controls systems for elevators/escalators. In addition to strong consulting skills, you will need a high degree of interpersonal and relationship building skills with the ability to develop new business opportunities.  

VT Consultant Additional Requirements:

  • A minimum of five to ten  years elevator/escalator industry experience with either a consulting firm or with a major manufacturer.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Must be able to independently manage all phases of project including developing and maintaining client relationships, site surveys, field audits of existing and new equipment installations, report writing and presentation of findings and recommendations
  • Experienced in design, audits, modernization, and traffic studies
  • Expert knowledge of elevator/escalator mechanical and operational equipment
  • Must be knowledgeable in all phases of building design and construction
  • Ability to manage and perform elevator equipment maintenance audits and ascertain condition of equipment; comfortable and capable of working around moving equipment
