Architectural Lighting Designer

Job Responsibilities:

As a Lighting Designer, you will support our Lighting Studio working towards our designs that are inspiring, demanding and highly collaborative. You will learn from others, and they will expect to learn from you. You will share in the responsibility, rewards and recognition of producing truly innovative solutions and complete client satisfaction. The pace is fast and the camaraderie is close.

Responsibilities include:
  • Participate in lighting design process on assigned projects and provides support to Senior Lighting Designers with the following:
    • Selection of light fixtures, specifications, lighting calculations, and preparation of hand sketches
    • Producing CAD lighting drawings and review shop drawings for a variety of projects and project sizes
    • Assist senior designers in mockups, and site visits

  • Collaborate on the development of designs under the direction of the senior designer
  • Support the design efforts of lighting for new installations, renovations, and lighting enhancements for a wide variety of projects and project types
  • Learn drawing organization and company standards
  • Take ownership of completeness, accuracy and timeliness of the work assignments
  • Participate in the development of presentation drawings and renderings
  • Understand basic architectural lighting design and documentation
  • Participate in the QA/QC process for other team members
  • Attend our Engineering Development Program continuing education seminars on technical and professional enhancing topics


Architectural Lighting Designer

Job Requirements:

The ideal candidate will enjoy a team environment and also flexible enough to work independently where needed. Candidates for this role will be eager to learn and will expand their knowledge and hands on experience by challenging themselves and using the highly technical resources around them.

Additional job requirements:
  • Bachelor Degree from an accredited university in Architectural, Interior Design or Architectural Engineering
  • 0 - 3 years of relevant experience in Lighting Design
  • Basic working knowledge of Photoshop, 3D Studio, InDesign, and Sketch Up
  • Ability to create presentation drawings in Photoshop or Sketch Up
  • Basic working knowledge in the latest version of Auto CAD and REVIT a plus
  • Proficiency with AGI Calculation Software a plus
