We are seeking a Senior Business Development Manager with a track record of building business in the A/E/C industry, specifically in Silicon Valley area. Based in San Francisco, the role will strengthen existing client relationships and lead the business development for Syska’s offices in San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego. The position reports to the West Coast Operations Manager.

Job Responsibilities

Working with our West Coast senior management, the position will help expand existing client relationships and develop new relationships with architects, commercial developers, owners/authorities (such as healthcare providers and airports authorities), general contractors and corporate tenants.  

Key responsibilities:
  • Develop and support current client relationships
  • Conduct client needs assessment, proposal development, presentations and manage the sales process. May be part of the final Syska team to present and win project proposals
  • Expand Syska’s network of contacts by engaging directly, and through presentations, events and trade conferences. Identify leads and manage follow-up either directly or through the Syska leadership team
  • Conduct research Identify and prioritize potential clients, and help maintain the firm’s client database
  • Prepare and execute business development action plans. Monitor sales activities and adjust to market changes, as necessary
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the West region business plans including gathering information as market size, growth potential, market share, and entry strategies
  • Partner with Marketing & Communications to build demand and differentiation for Syska with events, mailings, presentations, collateral materials, advertising and online campaigns
  • Mentor staff and train other staff, as necessary

Job Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will possess excellent interpersonal skills and proven track record of developing business in the A/E/C industry.

Key requirements:
  • A minimum of 10 or more years’ of business development experience in the A/E/C industry, is a must
  • Experience in technology and healthcare markets preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, business, architecture or engineering. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education
  • Strong communication, leadership, presentation and interpersonal skills required  
  • Client focused, must be able to work on a self-initiated basis and in a team environment
  • Able to work extended hours, when needed and travel as required
