HR Business Partner – Generalist

Job Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the HR Business Partner will provide strategic guidance and input to management and the employee population in matters relative to onboarding, learning and development, employee relations, compliance and all facets of Human Resources. Will partner with the entire HR team to drive firm-wide business and people initiatives in alignment with the firm’s strategic plan.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day operating leverage to the Director of Human Resources
  • Consult with firm-wide Regional Business Unit Leaders on strategic planning and people issues
  • Participate as a partner to East, Central and West Regional operations teams
  • Support the ongoing HR focus on the development and execution of programs and initiatives to attract, onboard, develop and retain talent across the organization
  • Drive the learning and development programs to improve employee engagement and retention and to improve leadership skills
  • Drive employee engagement and communication efforts
  • Provide HR Policy guidance and interpretation, ensuring compliance by educating executives and management team on applicable labor requirements
  • Coach, counsel and mentor managers and employees
  • Facilitate discussions to resolve employee complaints or problems
  • Partner with SHG’s legal counsel and outside employment counsel as needed

Other projects, duties, and tasks:

  • Participate in the design, development, and implementation of new Learning Management System- Red Vector
  • Participate in review and update of new Employee Policy guidelines
  • Support other members of the Human Resources Team as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Human Resources

HR Business Partner – Generalist

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent work experience
  • 7-10 years of progressive human resources or related experience within the A/E/C space a plus
  • Proficient in multiple human resource disciplines including, learning and development, compensation practices, employee relations, diversity & inclusion, and federal and state employment compliance
  • Experience with and proficiency in configuration, management, input and analysis of data, and reporting in HRIS systems, ADP Workforce Now, a plus
  • Articulate speaker and an active listener with strong writing and presentation skills
  • A caring advisor who displays good judgment; inspires confidence, handles confidential matters with discretion and is a team builder
  • Detail oriented with outstanding organizational skills. Ability to analyze complex problems and craft creative and effective solutions
  • PHR/SHRM - CP preferred or other professional certifications, member of SHRM recommended
  • Flexible for occasional travel will be required
