Senior Controller

We currently have an exceptional opportunity for a Senior Controller to join our corporate headquarters in New York, NY.  As a Senior Controller, you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining the company’s financial policies and procedures by providing operational and administrative direction to the accounting, budgeting, tax, and insurance functions.  You will be expected to follow generally accepted accounting principles in the treatment of assets, liabilities, equity, revenue, and expenses. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, have impeccable organizational skills, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Senior Controller Additional Responsibilities:                                                   

  • Provide leadership, expertise, and guidance to the accounting department
  • Guide financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures
  • Protect assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls
  • Monitor and confirm financial condition by conducting audits and providing information to external auditors
  • Maximize return, and limit risk, on cash by minimizing bank balances; making investments
  • Oversee budgets by establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data; recommending plans
  • Achieve budget objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions
  • Provide status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data
  • Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
  • Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing financial reports; advising management on needed actions
  • Ensure operation of equipment by establishing preventive maintenance requirements and service contracts; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques
  • Complete operational requirements by managing accounts payable team members, located in East and West Coasts, payroll administrator in NY and following up on work results
  • Ensure governmental regulation compliance and assisting in documenting, testing, reporting, and auditing controls

Senior Controller

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field​
  • ​​​A current CPA license is required
  • 10 plus years of progressive financial/accounting experience within both public and private organizations with Auditing experience a plus; in the A/E/C industry highly preferred
  • BST or similar industry software experience desired
  • ​​​​Knowledge and experience with accounting payroll software preferred​
  • Microsoft Office Suite with proficiency in Microsoft Excel​​​​​​
     
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed
