Senior Design Engineer / PM (Structured Cabling Systems)

Job Responsibilities

As a Senior Design Engineer / Project Manager you will lead and support the engineering of systems for a variety of projects while working closely with clients, client reps, architects and MEP engineers in creating designs for all kind of spaces including Critical Facilities, Corporate Interiors, Sports & Entertainment, Healthcare Facilities, Airports and Government Offices throughout the country.

The ideal candidate will have an entrepreneurial spirit with the drive to build our services in the New York City region and expand on a rapidly growing and successful practice area. You will play an active role in business developments efforts by assisting with proposal development, attending industry networking events and conducting presentations for the external environment. You will also effectively and personably organize others supporting your efforts and work on developing strong relationships with project design teams as well as clients.

Additional Responsibilities Include:
  • Act as the lead structured cabling engineer and provide technical expertise on a wide range of projects; coordinate designs with project teams
  • Manage large, complex and multi-disciplinary projects involving areas such as structured cabling, audiovisual, security, BMS, fire alarm and MEP engineering
  • Provide on-site coordination with the project team, including client representatives, construction managers, general contractors and subcontractors
  • Lead programming activities with key client stakeholders including budget development and tracking of financials
  • Perform QA/QC (Quality Assurance/Quality Control) review on structured cabling projects led by other engineers
  • Oversee testing and commissioning
  • Perform calculations, design and consulting of systems for large projects with minimal supervision
  • Able to apply skills to produce drawings consistent with instruction, guidelines and standards
  • Create plans, schematics, equipment selection, load calculations, systems narratives and specifications, system design and layout, field investigation and construction administration
  • Prepare due diligence and feasibility reports and communicate design concepts via sketches and renderings
  • Provide mentoring and knowledge transfer to junior engineers; keep current with technology trends and standards
  • Manage client’s IT work steams and act as a technology “Owner’s Rep” by interfacing with the client’s IT staff, managing vendors and other consultants and creating project plans
  • Take an active role in business developments efforts by assisting with proposal development, attending industry networking events and conducting presentations for external environment


Senior Design Engineer / PM (Structured Cabling Systems)

Job Requirements
  • Bachelor Degree from accredited university in Engineering or Technical discipline
  • 7-10+ years of relevant design combined experience designing projects in Critical Facilities, Corporate Interiors, Sports & Entertainment, Healthcare Facilities, Airports and Government Offices
  • 3 – 5 years’ experience in Project Management
  • Knowledge of audio-visual/multimedia and security systems, a plus
  • Detailed knowledge of equipment from various manufacturers to assist in making proper selections
  • General understanding of networks, telephony systems, WIFI, routing, switching and carrier circuits
  • Migration/move management experience, a plus
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD is a requirement
  • Basic knowledge of REVIT
  • PMP Certification, a plus RCDD certification is desired, or eligibility to obtain certification within one year of hire​
